ROSS HALFIN PHOTOS FROM LONDON
ROSS HALFIN.com
Check out these awesome KISS photos by Ross Halfin. Ross is one of KISS' favorite photographers. He always seems to catch the band just right, and the colors are amazing. Several of Ross' photos are in the new KISS Sonic Boom Over Europe Tour book.

That's Paul Stanley with Jimmy Page in the top left photo!

Alright London, You Wanted The Best You Got The Best - KISS! I don't care that John Bionelli works for Aerosmith, I know he'd rather be working for the Gods Of Thunder, polishing their platform boots and writing the set list. I mean, I can't see John singing "JJJJJ-Jaded" every night when he can "Shout It Out Loud" or "Lick It Up" I went along to see Kiss destroy Wembley with the dynamic duo of Makowski and Page (Paul had invited us).

We went in to see Paul Stanley who was so tall in platforms we three looked like midgets. Took a some photos of Jimmy and Paul then JP and Tommy Thayer who, when Eric Singer tried to join in, was pushed out of the way by Tommy (very funny). Eric promised to buy me a Rolex if I took a photo of him and JP - I'll take a photo for a Daytona... Oddly it was all the people working for Kiss who were annoying Jimmy for photos and not the crowd.

Great light show, shot the show from the mixing desk - I'm in the pit tomorrow.

More of the Gods Of Thunder at Wembley. A pain to shoot - too many security guys in the pit. Got into it towards the end and the second half of the Kiss show is spectacular to shoot. In fact the last bit is a photographers dream - fantastic light show, all of Gene Simmon's doing (so he told me). I loved it, at least Kiss give you a show, you get what you pay for.

The crowd were a big mix of young and old. A lot of kids who were into it down the front, instead of old men like John Bionelli...

Kiss destroying Wembley...

THIS DAY IN TORY 1975
KISSONLINE
KISS HEADLINED COBO HALL FOR FIRST TIME

On April 16th, 1975, KISS headlined Detroit's Cobo Hall for the first time. The show before a sellout crowd of 12,000 plus, was part of the seventy-two date Dressed To Kill tour. It was also the first of five shows that KISS recorded for their classic album, KISS ALIVE! The famous photo on the back cover of ALIVE!, featuring KISS fans Bruce Redoute and Lee Neaves holding their hand drawn KISS sign, was taken at this concert.

Paul Stanley comments on the Cobo show and Detroit:

"This concert and the release of "Alive!" marked a pivotal giant step towards achieving domination in the 70's. "Detroit Rock City" was written as a salute to the people who championed us as a headliner when others still saw us as an opening act. We can never forget them. We decided, that was the only place we would start the Reunion Tour."

A frame-flip video of KISS at their historic Cobo Hall concert on May16, 1975, which was recorded for KISS Alive! The audio in the video is from Parasite from this exact show.

NEWS OF THE WORLD
KISS, SECC, Glasgow

"YOU wanted the best... you got the best!"

It's the pre-gig announcement they've been using more or less continuously since their first show in January 1973.

But tonight, as the US legends storm the stage with an eye-watering arsenal of pyrotechnics (a colossal 500 of them), hydraulics and spark-shooting guitars, they prove they really are "the hottest band in the world". Literally.

Flames the size of skyscrapers burst from the stage as a string of explosions announce the arrival of the four-piece - on a platform that swoops from the ceiling to the floor. It is, no question, one of the most impressive entrances you'll ever see. And it doesn't hurt that, as they descend, they are belting out an amped- up version of Modern Day Delilah, one of the highlights of their new Sonic Boom album.

It's a return to the muscular, no-frills rock'n'roll of their classic '70s period, And tonight, amid the bangs and crashes of the greatest stage show the SECC has ever seen songs from it (particularly a sensational Say Yeah that has the 10,000 crowd singing along lustily) hold their own against fan faves like Cold Gin, Deuce and a mesmerising Detroit Rock City.

LIAM AT NEWCASTLE SHOW
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
Hi KISS,

Here's a pic of our son Liam after the Newcastle KISS gig waiting to meet you backstage and sign his cast.

Liam was diagnosed with a rare form of children's cancer at Xmas being aged only 11. Cancer affects 1 in every 4 people, a shocking statistic which we've unfortunately seen first hand and devastates families. It affects both young & old and makes no distinction between colour or creed. Advances in modern medicine are now combating this dreadful illness to great affect but that takes a lot of fundraising and publicity.

Thanks Gene for taking a lead and backing such a worthy cause. From watching your Family Jewels programme I know you are very proactive in supporting charitable causes and that your family was also recently touched by the scourge of cancer, so you can appreciate what other families must be going through. I hope Shannon is on the road to a full recovery as it appears our Liam is also. He's only about half way through his treatment but the doctor's have been really impressed with his recovery.

I ask all your fans out there reading this letter to back your sterling campaign. Liam's even donated some money himself as he really appreciates everything that has been done for him. Please also give generously. Together we can make a real difference to the lives of children and families going through this terrible illness.
