We are getting to the final stages of our rock and roll dream house and I wanted to share it w/you all.First a p.s.a. I am an alcoholic 6 yrs. sober. None of this could have happened if I was drinking.

Two years ago we decided to add a 2000 sq ft.addition to our home. After the shell was up.I chose to do the rest myself. Sheetrock, plumbing, flooring, you name it. I am an auto re-finisher by trade, never having done anything like this. I think it looks phenomenal. Now at 4000 sq ft. we feature the Paul Stanley "serenity"chapel with 24 ft high ceilings and a laser show, a black leather bathroom w/bass drum medicine cabinet, gold record cafe', cd wall, piano stairs, Demon stairs and the KISScave. If the Hard Rock had a bed and breakfast, this is it!

Also in the last few years I have had the pleasure of spending time w/the guys and have given them all, Ace and Pete too, keys to the place as well as photo albums of the construction. Hope they use them someday. Bring yard-crashers w/you. That project is next.

Thank you KISS so much for a lifetime of inspiration and teaching me that you can live what you dream if you work for it. God Bless you guys and fellow soldiers. KISS Loves You!

Legendary lead singer gearing up for a “Monster” of a year in 2012

Rock legend Paul Stanley, the iconic voice and driving force behind KISS, one of the most successful and influential bands ever born on American soil, yesterday underwent surgery to address some recurring vocal cord issues. According to doctors, the procedure was a success, Paul’s recovery will be swift and complete, and one of rock’s greatest showmen of all time will yet again preach his rock ‘n’ roll gospel to millions in 2012.

“I hold myself to a higher standard than others do,” Stanley said. “With that in mind, I wanted to remedy a few minor issues that come with forty years of preaching rock ‘n’ roll.”

Stanley’s activities show no sign of slowing down as sales of his highly-acclaimed artwork continue to climb into the multiple seven-figure range, his being named Ambassador Spokesperson for the world-renowned House Research Institute, and Stanley’s overseeing of the ever-expanding KISS empire and worldwide brand with more than 3,000 highly-successful licensees.

2012 is shaping up to be quite a year for the legendary KISS frontman with Stanley once again at the helm producing Monster, KISS’ forthcoming, highly-anticipated follow-up album to the critically acclaimed Paul Stanley-produced Sonic Boom that debuted at number one on the Billboard Hard Rock Chart. Monster will be the band’s twentieth studio album. In 2012, KISS will also embark on its biggest and most ambitious worldwide tour ever, spanning multiple countries and continents, in support of Monster.

Drumming Black Diamond at Talent Show

Dear KISS,

We want to share with you our 5 year old son, Avery, drumming to Black Diamond at his first Talent Show, winning 1st place. We are so proud of him. He learns songs by ear and on his own and always loves to practice. And YES, its ALL KISS, ALL the TIME. Avery has been a fan since age 1 and a KISS Army memeber since age 3. Avery is more a KISS fan then we will ever be. We can honestly say, he only started playing because you are. THANK YOU for being a GREAT Inspiration for Avery and his music!!!!

Mom and Dad.

Last May, I decided to dip into my savings and book the KISS Kruise for two (my 12 year old daughter and myself...) I really didn't know what to expect, but I was getting the opportunity to see two awesome concerts and be in a photo with my favorite band, the band I've loved since first rockin' out to Strutter back in 1975! That was a great deal as far as I was concerned!!

Well, the Kruise ended up being the vacation of a lifetime!!! I painted my daughter and I as different band members each night. We took advantage of all the cruise had to offer, and enjoyed two of the most amazing concerts the band has ever performed. The sail away concert blew my mind. I'd always wished that I'd seen MTV's Unplugged back in '95, but this concert made up for it!!! The indoor concert that Saturday night totally rocked too. My daughter and I weren't very close to the stage, but we managed to catch one of Paul's picks, and the venue was perfect, more intimate than other concerts I'd been to...

Sorry to be so long winded, but I wanted to say thank you to the band and to Sixthman who steered us through a slice of KISStory!!!

We won't ever forget it.

Life has finally settled back into a world without 24-hour buffet lines, a pocketful of poker chips, and a daily dose of Kiss. For those who attended the Kiss Kruise on October 13 to 17, the withdrawal symptoms are getting heavy. To cap off County Grind's extensive coverage -- for the time being, anyhow -- here's a video scrapbook of the experiences that includes the sights and sounds of a weekend that Gene Simmons will never forget.

There's a wealth of intimate, full-makeup performance footage from Kiss' shows at the Palladium Lounge, a sampling of the Kiss fanatics who populated the Carnival Destiny, and several things that will never, ever happen again -- at least until Kiss Kruise 2012.

For nearly 40 years fans of warpaint-wearing rock band Kiss have arguably remained the most geektastic in the world. Many eagerly snatch up the endless array of Kiss merchandise, from comics to toys, and chalk up as many concerts as humanly possible.

On October 13 the Kiss Army --the name for its dedicated legion of fans-- became the Kiss Navy as almost 2,000 fans set sail on The Kiss Kruise. This floating Kiss fan fest traveled from Miami, Fla. to a private island and Nassau, Bahamas. It all wrapped on October 17 as the Carnival cruise ship Destiny returned to Miami, with a boatload of cruisers and their head-banging hangovers.

Kiss itself joined the throngs of followers on board. The band kicked off the excursion with a rare acoustic sail-away show sans make-up. A sea of pumping fists filled the ship’s Lido deck as Kiss rambled through a roster of stripped-down versions of both popular cuts and rarely-heard nuggets. “Christine Sixteen,” “Do You Love Me?” and “Black Diamond” helped pack the one-hour performance.

Later in the show founding members Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley, and newer recruits Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer, became a virtual human jukebox as fans shouted requests. Kiss dug deep into its catalog treating the audience to snippets of obscure songs while fans sang along. Simmons’ biggest fan, his long-time mate and newlywed bride Shannon Tweed, kept a watchful eye from the side of the stage.

Other live performances throughout the cruise included costumed Kiss concerts featuring deep cuts; sets by Skid Row and other hard rockers; and stand-up comedy by Craig Gass. That latter is perhaps best known among Kiss fans for his spot-on impersonations of Simmons and Stanley.

On-board activities ranged from mini golf with Kiss axman Thayer to a casino tourney with drummer Singer. Fans donned their best Kiss costumes at a special Halloween bash. Yet perhaps the most treasured amenity was the fact each guest got his or her photo taken with the band in full regalia.

“It’s a great opportunity to meet other fans from all around the world,” said Johan Carlen, who traveled nearly 30 hours from Sweden to attend the cruise.

Carlen and a band of fellow Swedes created their own custom Kiss Kruise T-shirts to wear on the voyage. According to Sixthman, the producer of the cruise, more than 26 countries were represented, proving the common language of Kiss loudly shatters geographical borders.
