July 28, 2007 Hello Gene- I have to say that my respect for you as a professional musician and a human being has just elevated to the highest level! I was at the KISS show last night in Soboba and flew all the way from Chicago to see you perform. When Doc walked out on stage after the delayed start time, I thought to myself, "Uh oh, this can't be good"....But when I saw you, Tommy and Eric take your positions on stage, I knew there was hope! After the announcement was made about Paul being unable to perform, and you asked if the fans still wanted the show to go on, there were so many emotions that I know gave everyone there goosebumps! I was sad for Paul, overjoyed (and relieved!) that the 3 of you carried on without him, and I felt proud and HONORED that you cared enough about the fans to let the show continue! I'm writing to you now because I want the world to know what an excellent and commendable job the band did (and especially YOU for being the KISS frontman) to continue the show without him. When you made the comments about Paul being your brother, I know there wasn't a dry eye in the place. It did show that the Demon had a heart! Since 1979, I have seen KISS shows all over the U.S., as well as Japan and Australia for KISS Symphony, and without question, I declare the Soboba show as my favorite KISS show EVER! Everyone in that audience knew that we were witnessing a unique, once-in-a-lifetime show by consummate professional musicians who were playing their hearts out for their fallen bandmate, as well as their fans. I know I can speak for everyone there - that we stand defiantly behind you as members of the KISS Army and we wish Paul a speedy recovery. To Mr. Singer, Mr. Thayer and Mr. Simmons - BRAVO!!!
