FASHION COLLECTION INSPIRED BY
LOS ANGELES TIMES
New York Fashion Week: At JC Obando, Gene Simmons meets the Victorians

By Booth Moore / Los Angeles Times

Los Angeles designer Juan Carlos Obando's cool collection was inspired by the style of glam rock bands KISS and Queen, along with slimline Victorian silhouettes.

The stars of this show were a white glam-rock jacket and straight skirt slit up the side, and a sleeveless white "cage" dress, both with ornate black leather appliques that brought to mind Gene Simmons' famous face paint.

KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
KISS IS EVERYWHERE!

Dear KISS!

Last week, we had a carnival party at the college (Corvinus University of Budapest) in Budapest, Hungary. My friend and I decided to wear KISS make-up because we really like your music!

We had a great night, and the girls loved us :) Surprisingly we met a girl, who also wore KISS make-up! Here's a montage of the photos from our party.

I hope you come back soon to Hungary and give us another great concert!

Hungary loves you!

TEACHER DRESSES AS GENE TO PROMOTE READING
NEWARK ADVOCATE
NEWARK -- Elvis Presley and Gene Simmons walked the Excel Academy halls this week for the annual Right to Read week, themed "Rock Out and Read."

"They're all quite frightened," high school English teacher Sarah Boulard said, laughing, about her students in reference to her Friday costume -- a black wig, spiked foam shoulder pads and silver leggings, reminiscent of an outfit worn by Simmons, a member of the band Kiss.

The school has had a music theme all week, with different classrooms highlighting different decades in music. For every 10 pages a student read during the week, he or she received a guitar pick to put on a lanyard.

Boulard's class focused on the 1980s all week -- prompting Friday's Kiss outfit and other '80s-themed outfits throughout the week.

LOGAN'S VIDEO TRIBUTE TO
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
KISS,

Here is a video my 6-year-old son Logan "Robot" shot last Halloween as a tribute to his favorite drummer, Eric Singer! He had so much fun doing a Halloween video for Modern Day Delilah in 2009 that we decided to try again in 2010. In true Kiss fashion, Robot wanted to make this year's video bigger and better than before - and he had a whole lotta fun in the process. The video features a cameo appearance by Robot's 4-year-old sister, Kylie (who is also a big Kiss fan!), along with a few funny surprises. We hope you enjoy watching!

Thanks for making 2010 another great year for Kiss fans. And thanks to Eric for continuing to inspire little rock and rollers everywhere.

Thanks,
Kevin Gladden

MY PINBALL MACHINE
KOL LETTERS
Being a Kiss fan and an avid collector it was only natural for me to search flea markets and garage sales for anything Kiss, considering my personal favorites are the original seventies collectables. After obtaining many collectibles I realized that the Holy Grail of Kiss memorabilia would be the Bally Kiss pinball machine.

As fate would have it around April, 2010 I received a call from a friend stating he knew someone that wanted to sell a Kiss pinball machine. I could not believe what I was hearing, but quickly realized I would never be able to afford such a rare collectible, but maybe just maybe they were selling it cheap. I went back and forth with the seller until she finally said “make me an offer”. Well, with my eyes closed I blurted out a ridiculous offer of three hundred dollars, expecting a fast decline but, much to my amazement she accepted it.

I can still remember seeing the pinball machine for the first time. I walked through a back yard in suburban New Jersey. The seller opened a wooden door to an old shed and there it sat in all its glory. It was shoved in a corner with all types of junk stuffed on and around it, just waiting for me to rescue it. My eyes went instantly to the back glass that was still intact. I noticed slight wear on the playfield and some fading of the body paint. I couldn’t believe what great condition it was in considering the seller settled for such a low price.

At first I wasn’t expecting very much, after learning it hadn’t worked for years but at that instant I knew it was a dream come true. I quickly learned how to repair the late seventies Bally Kiss pinball machine and the rest has been KISStory.

BROWARD PALM BEACH NEW TIMES
By Travis Newbill

Kiss us, we're Irish. St. Patrick's Day's creepy little green guy will be overshadowed by larger, possibly more satanic, man-monsters this year when Kiss brings its "Hottest Show on Earth Tour" to the Seminole Hard Rock on March 17 -- one of only two scheduled North American appearances for 2011 so far. This comes as great news for those of us who feel that the old beer-jig-puke routine is getting old and that the reign of the leprechaun has gone on for long enough.

Kiss is currently working on a new album, which means we may be treated to a few new songs. Of course, we're thinking that the songs will not be the big news at this show, which is obviously an attempt by Kiss to overthrow the leprechaun. Here are a few predictions for the upcoming green-versus-black battle of St. Patrick.
