All KISS, All the Time!!

Taking over Hair Nation for the weekend, Scare Nation is a 24/7 all-KISS, limited-run channel that will showcase music from the band’s entire career. Playing everything from their 1974 self-titled debut through their 20th studio album, "Monster," listeners will also hear the band members talking about their new album, touring, their fans and much more.

Scare Nation will feature an encore broadcast of “SiriusXM’s Town Hall with KISS” on Saturday, October 27 at 12 pm ET.

In celebration of KISS's 20th studio album, MONSTER, KISS sat down with 20 lucky SiriusXM subscribers and host Jose Mangin for a fan Q&A. Here, they describe the origins of their anthem "Rock and Roll All Night" and even some never-before-revealed alternate names for the band.

KISS #5 is a game changer. Seriously, folks. It takes the whole concept of KISS and turns it on its ear. Two words, kids: KISS GIRLS. That’s right, you wanted hot girls, you GOT hot girls! Not to mention The Phantom of the Park!

Writer Chris Ryall takes everyone’s “favorite” movie, KISS Meets The Phantom Of The Park, and puts a WHOLE new spin on it. The basics are still there, like the evil Abner Devereaux and, of course, the amusement park. I can’t tell you what a refreshing change of pace this is, and Ryall proves with this issue that the sky truly IS the limit when it comes to this comic. So far, it’s been very enjoyable, going from different eras in time watching the group take on the henchmen of the evil Destroyer, but this issue he makes everything fresh and totally different. Don’t get me wrong, we all love the group, but it’s nice to get a total 180 once in awhile. This book is something that you’re going to want to read at least a couple of times – it’s that good – and you’re going to make sure that you don’t miss anything. Maybe it’s my love of KISS or my love of KISS Meets The Phantom of the Park movie (c’mon, it was fun), but I honestly can’t remember enjoying a comic this much in a long time.

The art by Wagner Reis is outstanding! He’s the perfect choice for this issue. He excels at drawing great-looking girls, monsters, and amusement parks. From first page to last, this art is a total home run. He’s got a great style, the page layouts are fantastic, and his storytelling ability is superb. You can totally follow the story without even reading the word balloons, and THAT is a mark of a great artist. His backgrounds are highly detailed and fun to look at as well. All around great art here in this issue!

I can’t recommend a comic as highly as I recommend this one. For real. Ryall and Reis are the perfect team for this story and I’d love to see them collaborate more on this series, or on a different series all together. But, back to this book: it’s a great jumping on point for new readers (as is every other issue, which is a fantastic maneuver by IDW), it’s highly entertaining, and not only will you be really excited for the next issue, you’ll want to dig out your copy of KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park and give it another watch.

Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons attended the 2012 Carousel of Hope Ball, which took place Saturday night in the VIP room of the Beverly Hilton. Carousel of Hope benefits the children's hospital in Denver and the research to help eradicate juvenile diabetes.

In attendance were George Clooney and Stacey Keibler, Clive Davis, Sidney Poitier, Shirley MacLaine, Berry Gordy, Jane Fonda, Jerry Weintraub, George Schlatter and Quincy Jones all made that top table, as did Jay Leno, who hosted the show.

But it was Gene Simmons of Kiss who coughed up the big bucks, bidding thousands for a wedding trip to the St. Regis Bora Bora, complete with a couture dress included, despite the fact that wife Shannon Tweed was sitting beside him. Needless to say, Clooney kept his hands firmly in his lap during that auction.

KISS IS EVERYWHERE!

I am a teacher at South Point High School in South Point Ohio, A few week was spirit week at our school and four of our students decided to dress up as KISS for character day. Being that I have a corner in my classroom dedicated to KISS, this just made my day!

Thanks to Brooke, Alayna, Elaine, and Emily for being great students throughout high school ( they are seniors this year). They made this teachers day!

Pack your KISS gear and plan on heading to Los Angeles tonight because Gene Simmons is hosting the KISS Army Night at the first annual Rocktoberfest at L.A. Live. You should also bring your appetite because Wolfgang Puck is serving up Oktoberfest cuisine with a California twist.

The festival is presented by Rock & Brews, the restaurant concept founded by Simmons with restaurateur Michael Zislis and concert promoter Dave Furano. Described as “a rockin’ California tribute to the two-centuries old Bavarian tradition,” the seven-day event includes local, national and international beers along with Oktoberfest cuisine, live entertainment and special celebrity guests.

Held at Nokia Plaza – L.A. Live, Rockterfest begins with an opening charity gala Oct. 15 and wraps up with the Craft Brew Festival Oct. 21, featuring more than 50 different craft beers and breweries. A portion of the proceeds from the Craft Brew Festival will benefit The Grammy Museum at L.A. Live.

The charity gala benefits the Wounded Warrior Project, an organization that honors and empowers injured service members through aid and unique, direct programs and services. Hosted by Simmons and Puck, the gala is limited to 1,000 attendees. Along with Simmons, organizers promise that “some big names in rock ’n’ roll are expected to take the stage in a jam band format.”

General admission tickets begin at $107 and include $60 worth of food and beverage vouchers, as well as a commemorative drink stein.VIP tickets are available ranging from single VIP tickets for $261.50 to seating at the “Hall of Fame” VIP table for eight. You’ll need to call for “Hall of Fame” VIP pricing but we can tell you this special package comes with tons of perks such as red carpet access, eight tickets to see the Lakers vs. Kings game Oct. 21, two nights in a penthouse and the chance to jam onstage with Simmons!

Now that that’s covered, let’s talk about the KISS Army Night, which takes place Oct. 18. You can count on live entertainment, German beers on tap and a selection of Puck’s Oktoberfest dishes. Simmons will perform at an all star jam session at 8:30 p.m. You can expect other KISS band members to be in attendance.
