ANOTHER GREAT REVIEW FROM CHILE
KISS ARMY CHILE ALIVE & WELL!

Another great KISS review from Chile! This one's from Revolver Magazine.

Legendary rock band KISS and its face-painted, platform stomping, ear pounding, flame throwing extravaganza lit up the sold-out Estadio Municipal de La Florida in Santiago Friday night with the loudest, brightest and hottest concert of the festival.

KISS' first performance in Chile since 1997 featured a barrage of pyrotechnics, confetti, fireworks and amplifiers that left nothing to be desired by any card-carrying, flag waving, air-guitar playing, tongue wagging KISS Army member.

'Santiago is a rock city,' guitarist and lead singer Paul Stanley screamed in between songs. 'We love you!'

After Chilean rock band Racimo opened for the night, the New York City-based headliners burned through classics including 'Detroit Rock City,' 'Lick It Up,' 'I Was Made For Loving You,' 'I Love It Loud,' 'Shout It Out Loud' and classic rock anthem 'Rock and Roll All Nite.'

Bassist Gene Simmons flailed his larger-than-life tongue, breathed fire, spewed 'blood' and even soared to rock from the rafters. Stanley ziplined from the stage to a tower in the center of the stadium, flying over the outstretched hands of the shrieking crowd. Lead guitarist Tommy Thayer shot fireworks out of the head of his guitar and drummer Eric Singer and his drum platform were lifted into the air above gusts of fog.

Even if you weren't a huge KISS fan, you had to appreciate the immense spectacle and would still be in awe of the amount of coordination and organization it took to pull such a complex act off without a hitch.

The grand finale performance of 'Detroit Rock City' appeared to feature about every piece of pyrotechnics available in the Santiago metro area with fireworks popping over the stadium, flames bursting, spouting and spinning on the stage as well as an engulfing fog spewing from the sides and cannons of confetti showering the crowd.

After the show, friends were high fiving, KISS families were hugging, ears were ringing and faces were beaming as attendees relished in what they just had witnessed: one of the best rock shows of all time and the perfect cap to an intense, action-packed music festival.

KISS: ONE UNFORGETTABLE NIGHT!

By Cristian Valderrama (translated by KISSONLINE friend Jill Cataldo)

(Photos from RocNVivo.com)

The closing of PepsiFest brought a band that holds a legendary seat of honor in the history of rock: KISS, who would initiate its South American tour in our country, recalling 35 years of 'Alive! ', their live jewel of 1975. Within the arena, a huge and powerful show was expected, as much musically as visually.

The 30 minutes of anticipation that preceded KISS were almost intolerable. Near 21:25, a linen cloth that covered the stage completely unfolded to reveal KISS's logo, immediately leading to madness among...

SOUTH AMERICA TOUR UPDATE
TOMMY CHECKS IN!

Let's get this show on the road!!!

Rehearsals end and it's showtime.

Like everything else in the world of Rock & Roll, everything planned can change in a minute.

Okay...this was the plan. The four of us, Doc, Danny (our security chief, for those of you just joining us) and new tour manager Mike would fly commercial to Miami and where we would hop aboard our jet for the 9 hour flight down to Santiago. Paul and I meet up at LAX, the international airport here in sunny Los Angeles. With every medicine known to man for any and all calamities in his bag, a rolling suitcase, huge sunglasses and a passport stuffed with visas and permits from all the other world tours in his hand, Paul looks like some sort of incognito rock star crossed with a pack mule.

But where is Gene??Well, it turns out he had written his car pick-up time down wrong and wasn't going to make the flight, so the tour already is 'business as usual'! I was surprised though, because that kind of stuff never happens with Gene. Eric showed up late, but in time to make the flight. He LOVES watches. Maybe he should look at it. Gene will fly commercial on a later flight with our assistant road manager 'Dependable' Dean and meet us in Santiago.

About four hours later, we land in Miami and make our way to the private aviation terminal where our flight crew and flight attendant watch as the KISS jet is being stuffed and stocked with dinner, drinks and amenities for our next journey. A great dinner and a short stop for fuel in Panama City, we all hunkered down for six hours of solid sleep on our way to Chile.

Just at daybreak we touched down into the Santiago sunshine. The ride to the hotel seems as long as the flight. Maybe because we're all hungry and talking about breakfast at the hotel. We'll rest today and Eric will walk the city. He IS the Energizer Bunny! Tomorrow (Friday) we start the South American leg of the KISS Alive/35 World tour at the sold-out Estadio Municipal de la Florida Stadium in Santiago, Chile. I'll get back to ya!
