NEW TRADING CARD SET
THE KISS ARMY WILL LOVE THIS UPCOMING SET!

By Chris Olds

Forget your baseball cards for a minute … the latest non-sport set from Press Pass will have collectors breathing fire, spitting up blood, throwing the goat and ripping packs with the dial turned up to 11.

It s the upcoming KISS Ikons set, which consists of 90 cards — including special 'fire' and 'blood' parallel cards — along with authentic Gene Simmons stage-worn memorabilia cards and instant win autograph redemptions good for autographed photos of Simmons and Paul Stanley. (Oh, and it includes temporary tattoos and stickers, too, which are good for making that notebook of yours look like it s 1975 all over again.) Each 24-pack box should cost you less than $50 as packs carry a suggested retail price of $1.99.

In all seriousness, it s been awhile since we ve seen KISS cards (1978 Donruss comes to mind, but there have surely been others) and with the band releasing an album and going on tour this year, they ll surely drive ‘em wild (and maybe a little crazy, too) all night and ev-er-y day.

If you re not old enough to know, this is the band that kick-started the whole marketing machine in music with countless products and items to satisfy their fans. Oh, and they ve sold more than 85 million albums, too.

So, the next question is … how many boxes of cards?

We ll find out starting on April 15.

FROM KISS FRONT MAN TO GALLERY ARTISTE

By Carolina A. Miranda

On an overcast afternoon in the tony New Jersey enclave of Short Hills, dozens of patrons have packed into the Wentworth Gallery to celebrate an art opening. Glasses of chilled chardonnay are served in the white-walled space as a battalion of gallery assistants respond to customer queries about abstract works in shades of blush and marigold. But make no mistake: this is not your average academic art exhibit. A quick scan of the attendees reveals lots of big hair, tight jeans and hints of rocker-girl décolletage. The sound system throbs with the refrain 'Lick it up, lick it up.' And...

PAUL ON CLASSIC
KISS SONGS WILL GO ON FOREVER

KISS frontman Paul Stanley is convinced the veteran rockers will never 'grow tired' of playing the same old songs - because it would be 'disrespectful' to their fans to retire their classic hits.

The Love Gun hitmakers formed in 1972 and have sold more than 85 million albums worldwide throughout their long running career.

The band recently announced they are heading back to the studio to record their first new material in ten years.

But singer Stanley is adamant that they are are not going to focus all their efforts on the new record - insisting they will still reward their legions of fans by filling their live shows with old favourites.

He says, 'Playing a lot of classic songs has really just whetted our appetite to go in the studio and transfer that, that same feeling and ferocity into new material. I would never, ever grow tired of those songs. The songs have made me both incredibly satisfied and rich and made a lot of other people very, very happy. It would be a show of disrespect - and maybe not deserving - to grow tired of something that's meant that much.'

PAUL ROCK 'N' ROLLS ALL NIGHT AND PAINTS (ALMOST) EVERY DAY

By Pete Catapano

He s more famous for painting his face, not canvases, but for years Paul Stanley, frontman for the legendary rock band Kiss, has been making the move from huge arenas to small galleries. Stanley, 57, will be in New Jersey this weekend for two art shows featuring his paintings and sculptures. The native New Yorker filled us in on his art:

When did you start painting? About eight years ago. I ve probably done 26 shows in the last year-and-a-half. Usually once a month I m in some city in America doing an art show and this weekend is no different.

How would you describe your...
