GUITAR PLAYER
Take a look at the cover of the Holiday 2009 issue of Guitar Player magazine!

Here's a great note from the magazine's editor:

"The cover looks amazing - so much so that we deleted ALL cover lines from the facing, except the band's name. This is one of the few times in the magazine's 42-year history that we've let an image alone do the talking for newsstand sales."

HONORED TO VISIT WARRIORS
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
I work for a local TV station in Augusta, Georgia, and have been a Kiss fan pretty much my entire life. Yesterday was an amazing day for me, as I got to meet Paul, Tommy, and Eric. It's been a dream of mine since I first bought "Lick It Up" at age 11. They stopped by the Norwood VA Center here in town and spent a good amount of time with people who are part of the Wounded Warriors Care Project of the CSRA.

It was a great pleasure to get to meet members of my favorite band and chat with them for a few minutes. But, what was even more awesome was to see how they interacted with people who put their lives on the line for our freedom. You could tell, KISS were the ones who were honored to be there and spend time with those special veterans.

I have been to many KISS shows, and have seen first-hand how the band salutes the military in their shows. But what I saw yesterday was a much deeper, more heartfelt salute. Taking time out of their busy touring schedule to stop in a town where they weren't scheduled to play, before jetting off to Nashville for last night's show, says a lot about the people behind the make-up, fireworks, and great music. I feel very lucky that my job allowed me a glimpse of that.

The Wounded Warrior Care Project is a great project here in Augusta, and it's nice to see it get some recognition from some huge celebrities. It was wonderful to see how excited the veterans were when Paul, Tommy, and Eric came into the room yesterday. But it was even more impressive to see how excited Paul, Tommy, and Eric were to be there. It was a wonderful moment that will certainly stay with those veterans the rest of their lives, and it is something I'll never forget either.

I'm glad I was lucky enough to be a "fly on the wall." I've always been a proud member of the KISS Army, but I've never been more proud than I am today. Thank you, KISS, for recognizing how important these wounded warriors are to our freedom and ability to do whatever we want. And thank you for spending some time with them. I have enclosed a photo of myself with Tommy Thayer.

Sincerely, Damon Putzier

DENVER POST
By Penny Parker

If you're flying on Southwest Airlines today, don't be spooked if you see Ben Franklin, the Statue of Liberty, Larry Bird or Julia Child along for the ride.

Southwest chief executive Gary Kelly is known to surprise passengers and employees with a costume every Halloween, and he practically makes the occasion a company holiday.

In past years, Kelly has masqueraded as Gene Simmons of the rock band Kiss.

THE TENNESSEAN
By MITCHELL KLINE

The flames, lights and fog machine were installed this week, helping to make a home on Franklin's West Main Street look like a stage for one of rock's most sensational acts: KISS.

Every Halloween since 2001, Jondie and Rebecca Davis have decorated their house with a theme and invited friends to join them. West Main Street, with its large, historic and gothic-looking homes, has become a popular place for trick-or-treaters. Rebecca Davis said more than 1,800 kids came to their house for candy last year. She expects about 2,000 Saturday.

"It's become kind of bigger than life," she said. "Kids come back every year and say they remember what we did the year before. It's become a lot of fun for us."

Past themes have included Sleeping Beauty, vampires, pirates and the Addams Family. Jondie Davis said he's been a fan of KISS since 1977, when he was 9. He said his friend John Pavlovsky suggested last Halloween that they all dress as members of the rock band and put on a real show.

Coincidentally, the real band put on a show in Nashville this week, making the theme extra-topical.
