IN BIRMINGHAM
GIG GOER UK
Posted by Gig Goer

The Kiss army arrived in Birmingham LG Arena for the 'Sonic Boom Over Europe' tour. The most make up I've ever seen at a gig and that was just the audience! The lights went down and the band duly arrived hoisted on a platform over the drummer into a sea of smoke and explosions. The Rock 'n Roll Pantomime had kicked off and the audience were on their feet from the outset.

They played the new songs from the 'Sonic Boom' album with a mix of more familiar classics:

'Crazy, Crazy Nights'
'Detroit Rock City'
'Rock 'n Roll All Night'
'I Was Made For Loving You'
'Love Gun'

This was one hell of a spectacle: exploding guitars, fireworks, fire eating & blood. At one point Gene Simmons ended up singing whilst balancing on the lighting rig whilst Paul Stanley jumped onto a Tarzan type swing and was transported to a small round platform behind the mixing desk in the middle of the Arena. The drummer and kit ended up twenty feet up in the air. You had to wonder what was coming next.

After one and a half hours the show was over or so we thought. They came back for a forty minute encore finishing off with the Argent classic 'God Gave Rock and Roll To You'.

I'm glad I went to see Kiss just once. This was a fantastic over the top extravaganza which took me back to 1975 when I bought the 'Kiss Alive LP. A great night!

KISS HITS LONDON AGAIN

Tonight was KISS' first show in London after kicking of the Sonic Boom over Europe tour last week in Sheffield. And what a night it was... Celebrating Eric's birthday with a cake on stage, the band delivered what the audience came for: a long night of energetic Rock and Roll, combining past, present and anything in between. The 3 new songs from Sonic Boom, as well as the new additions God Gave Rock and Roll to you and Crazy, Crazy nights, especially added because of the many requests for the UK, blend in perfectly among all the hits. Tomorrow's show in London is sold out, but if you can get your hands on a ticket, be there!

Best,
Rutger de Groot

WORCESTER NEWS
By Steve Johnston

KISS formed in New York City in January 1973. Easily identified by its members' face paint and flamboyant stage outfits, the band rose to prominence in the mid to late 1970s, on the basis of their elaborate live performances. To date, KISS has sold over 40 million albums and been awarded 24 gold discs in the USA, and their worldwide sales exceed 100 million albums.

With a stunning new stage show and a 140 minute set-list that stretched from their 1974 debut album "Kiss" to 2009's "Sonic Boom", the costumed rock superheroes were lowered on to stage on a floating platform amid a hail of pyrotechnics. "The Demon" Gene Simmons, "The Starchild" Paul Stanley, "The Spaceman" Tommy Thayer, and drummer "The Catman" Eric Singer, launched straight into one of their killer new tracks, "Modern Day Delilah" before plunging back to '74 for "Cold Gin".
