GREYSON CHANCE TELLS US WHY HE'S A HUGE KISS FAN

by Simon Vozick-Levinson / ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

Photo credit: Steve Granitz/WireImage.com; Bernd Mueller/Redferns/Getty Images

Here's something you might not know about Greyson Chance, the 13-year-old Oklahoman whose YouTube covers of artists like Lady Gaga are so popular: He's a big fan of '70s rockers KISS.

"I actually watched the Glee episode where they did Gaga and KISS," says Chance, who just stopped by EW's office. "I was like, 'Wow, I'm going to start getting into this.' I bought the KISS biggest hits record on iTunes, and it just started blowing my mind."

His favorite KISS tunes are the two performed by the Glee cast this May: "Shout It Out Loud" and "Beth," both originally released in 1976. "I love them because they can get up on stage and they can party so hard with these big rock party songs [like 'Shout It Out Loud']," he says. "With their makeup and all, they're so dramatic. I love theatricality. The way that they can do that and then go into a slow ballad like 'Beth,' it's very inspirational."

Chance is currently busy recording his debut album for release next spring on Ellen DeGeneres' eleveneleven record label. Seasoned music industry professionals including Ron Fair and the Matrix are helping him in the studio. Despite his KISS fandom, he says his album is more likely to draw inspiration from contemporary bands like Snow Patrol and Coldplay.

ARMY MARCHES ON AFTER 35 YEARS
WTHI TV
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) - When most people think of Terre Haute they think of basketball and Larry Bird, but there's something else this town is known for.

It's a fan crazed, rock n' roll army founded right here 35 years ago.
News 10 takes look back at the legendary KISS Army.

CELEBRATING THE ARMY 35TH ANNIVERSARY
KISSONLINE
Here's a note from our friend Susan Dinkel, the News Director/Midday Anchor with News 10, WTHI (CBS) in Terre Haute, Indiana.

Hi Guys,

I wanted to share the basics of what our station is doing over the next couple days to recognize the 35th anniversary of the KISS Army.

Today, we are running a feature story previewing the Sunday anniversary. The story will educate our viewers on what happened 35-years ago. We have been working with KISS Army Founder Bill Starkey... we visited his home in Indianapolis and he also came to Terre Haute to show us how everything went down here in the Haute.

We will air this feature story for its first run during our Midday newscast and then again at 6 p.m. & 11 p.m.

In the tag of the story, we will tease ahead to Sunday. Here's what we have planned.

One of the radio stations that operates out of our same building is 105.5 The River.. this is a classic rock station that plays old & new KISS.

Programming Director & DJ Ed Zeppelin and KISS Army Founder Bill Starkey will be at the station on Sunday to co-host an hour of KISS music to recognize the 35th anniversary of the KISS Army!

During the radio show, I am meeting our Mayor here at the station because he is declaring Sunday "KISS Army Day" in Terre Haute.. He'll read the proclamation over the air with them. As you already know, Mayor William Brighton gave KISS a key to the city 35-years ago (and we have the audio from that event..)

Overall, this anniversary is a part of Terre Haute's history and our station wants to embrace it!

Sincerely,
Susie
