The show at Everett on Thursday 6/23, was so awesome I was compelled to send a message to let everyone know. I have been a fan since '76 and my first show was in '77. The Everett show was the best one yet! The band is very tight and clearly enjoying themselves. The sound was loud and clear.
The talents of Eric and Tommy are clearly displayed - through their tandem vocals on "Say Yeah" to their instrumental interplay mid show - it was amazing to see and hear 'the new guys' take a bigger role in the show. Paul and Gene were...well Paul and Gene...True rock legends. Paul's voice was in especially good form.
There were lots of little nuggets - the "Won't Get Fooled Again' interlude in 'Lick It Up", Tommy's Mott the Hoople quote in "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" to Eric letting everyone know that Gene has him under his thumb in 'Black Diamond.'
I was simply blown away by how good the show was. The vocals are stronger and the overall musicianship has stepped up a couple of notches. It was very cool to hear 'Beth' played completely live and the effect on Gene's vocals during the end of 'God of Thunder' was a nice touch. I could go on and on. If I would have caught one of Paul's picks it would have the absolute perfect show. You guys are a big part of my life and I just wanted to say thank you for an awesome show and let the rest of the KISS ARMY know what is in store for them this summer!
Thanks to Geoff Hinze for the KISS photo collage.
