‘Love Gun, ‘ the sixth studio album from KISS, and the clear pinnacle of the band’s first golden era, was released 35 years ago this week.
The album’s release marked a pair of turning points for the band. It was the last record to feature their original lineup — Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Peter Criss and Ace Frehley — performing together on every song.

(In 1998, the foursome released a reunion album entitled ‘Psycho Circus,’ but it is widely reported that outside musicians joined Stanley and Simmons for much of that project.)

‘Love Gun’ was also released at the high-point of the band’s commercial success. KISS were without question the hottest band in the land at the time, with arena shows selling out across the country and mountains of records and merchandise flying off store shelves.

Seeing as how ‘Love Gun’ was their fifth studio LP in just three years — not to mention the near-constant touring the group had been doing since forming in 1973 — it’s hard to say they didn’t work hard to earn that position.

Happy Father's Day to all the great Fathers out there...including Chip White!

A Happy Fathers Day from Afghanistan

Good Afternoon KISS,

My name is Kyle, I am 21, and I am currently in Afghanistan doing some awesome missions with special forces and navy SEALs. I wanted to do something special for my dad this year for Father's Day. He has always been a KISS fan and was the one who introduced me to the KISS Army as a kid. With only about a week left and me being in Afghanistan, there is not a whole lot I can do. That is why I am writing you. I would like to see if you could help me out in wishing him a Happy Father's Day.

His name is Chip White. Thanks for taking the time to read this.

KISS ARMY and US ARMY soldier,
Kyle White

Both Eric Singer and Bruce Kulick also performed clinics at the events.

Official KISS Conventions were held in Australia, Canada and the United Sates.

KISS and 'Family Guy' announce licensing deal

(Rolling Stone) -- Rock stars and merchandising extraordinaires KISS have joined forces with Fox's animated hit "Family Guy" for a co-branded product line that will hit stores in fall, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Fox will develop the products with KISS' licensing agent, Live Nation Merchandise, and will look for partners to make everything from bobblehead dolls to apparel to fine art.

For a band that has licensed their image to everything from lunch boxes to pinball machines, KISS' new partnership makes total sense.

According to singer-guitarist Paul Stanley, the deal comes as KISS "are focusing more and more on the upper-tier, blue-chip opportunities for prestige partnerships. "Family Guy's" track record and consistent success with its demographic makes this match-up ideal."

By Sarah Thompson The Other Paper

After Russell asked his fiancée to marry him, he had another request: He wanted his friend Bryan Alexander, a Columbus-based Gene Simmons impersonator, to officiate at their wedding.

Alexander, who’s ordained and certified to perform weddings, agreed to the big Kiss fan’s request, and in October 2010, he wedded the two while wearing a replica of Simmons’s gray suit from the cover of the band’s 1975 album Dressed to Kill. He also donned Simmons’s noted mug paint and even sang “Every Time I Look at You” with the reception band.

The 115 wedding guests ate it up.

“There were more pictures of him being taken with guests at the wedding than I had done for the entire wedding itself,” said Russell, who declined to use his full name.

“The marriage didn’t last, but the ceremony was awesome.”

Since then, Alexander has officiated at two additional weddings as the rock legend, and he aims to do more. If he has his druthers, he’ll be doing at least some of them in Las Vegas.

The move marks the first in a series of co-branded merchandise with prominent guest stars on the animated TV show.

Fox's animated TV show Family Guy, as part of a expansion of its licensing, has entered a venture with the rock band KISS for a co-branded product line expected to hit store shelves in the fall.

This is the first in a series of co-branded merchandise that 20th Century Fox Consumer Products plans to license around Family Guy inspired by other prominent guests on the show.

KISS has appeared on the show three times and has become part of a running storyline. The character Peter Griffin talks about his love for the band KISS and his wife, Lois, says she once dated KISS bass player Gene Simmons before he became famous.

Simmons, in turn, says with tongue in cheek: “Lois, our night together is a memory I will cherish.”

KISS, which has been around since 1972, performs in face paint and costumes. It has been touring and doing licensing and merchandising to its fan base for years. Lead singer Paul Stanley says they have already racked up more than a billion dollars in sales, and this latest deal comes as “we are focusing more and more on the upper-tier, blue-chip opportunities for prestige partnerships. Family Guy’s track record and consistent success with its demographic makes this match-up ideal."

“KISS and Family Guy coming together for a line of products is a great mash-up of two iconic brands that speaks directly to fans who will be able to enjoy something a little different and special with what we have in store,” said Jeffrey Godsick, president of Fox Consumer Products.
