MINI GOLF ROCKS!
KISS by Monster Mini Golf, Las Vegas

This indoor glow-in-the-dark 18-hole course is modeled entirely after the rock group Kiss’s platinum album, Destroyer. While a live DJ spins Kiss hits, naturally, animatronic Kiss band members rock out on a stage in the middle of the course. It gets wackier: hole no. 18 is a giant Gene Simmons head, and golfers must hit the ball up his tongue. And any old pencil and scorecard won’t do; download the score app onto an iPhone, complete with trivia questions. $11.95; www.monsterminigolf.com

KISS couple: Allegan's Angel and Jeff Justice are members of KISS Army, Navy to attend Allegan County Fair show

By John Liberty

Angel and Jeff Justice, of Allegan, refer to their story as a piece of "Kiss-tory."

The couple met 10 years ago on a Kiss online fan forum. Jeff lived in Michigan; Angel resided in her hometown of Baltimore, Md. Their mutual appreciation for the band helped spark a relationship that is coming full circle when the couple will see Kiss perform on Tuesday at the Allegan County Fair, just a couple miles from their home.

Together, they have seen 35 Kiss concerts, own more than 300 pieces of Kiss memorabilia -- everything from rare goblets to signed concert posters to a lunch box -- and dedicated most of their newly-finished basement to one of the most popular rock bands of all time.

"One day he walked into the chat room and we hit it off. That was history, or as we say Kiss-tory," said Angel Justice, 42. "The fact that each other knew as much about Kiss and our passion was equal, we were just able to connect."

All I really need to know about music, I learned in middle school.

Rock and roll all night. Party every day.

Could the guidelines be any simpler than that?

I owe my questionable taste in loud, flamboyant rock to Billy Barath, a seventh-grade classmate at Manchester Middle School who changed my life in 1976 with a startling pronouncement.

“Kiss is the best,” he told me.

What?!?! Those weird guys in the makeup? Better than Bachman-Turner Overdrive? Better than the Captain and Tennille? Better than K.C. and the Sunshine Band?

This merited investigation. Listening intently to the radio, turning the knob from station to station, catching songs like Rock and Roll All Nite, I determined that Billy was a genius.

Kiss rocked.

AND OPERATION RESILIENT WARRIOR
KISSONLINE.com
Each year, the Touring Crew of KISS supports a charity. This year in conjunction with Hire a Hero, we have chosen Operation Resilient Warrior.

Operation Resilient Warrior is a non-profit organization that gives support to our troops, both on the line and at home. They send care packages to Afghanistan and Iraq. They help soldiers and their families transition from active duty to civilian life. They provide counseling, education, memorial scholarships, substance abuse programs.

To date the road crew of KISS has raised $5000.00, and we are still going strong in these last three weeks.

Our vendors, that supply the gear to KISS have really stepped up to the plate and have sent Operation Resilient Warrior a total of $26,750.00

We, the road crew of KISS are challenging you, the KISS fans to "step up" also. Let's make a difference in the lives of our troops and send in Donations. It's tax deductible and makes such a huge impact. Anything you can give is greatly appreciated..from 1cent to 100 million. Everything counts.

Remember :

"One Warrior at at Time"

As rock band approaches 40th anniversary, here are a few tidbits to rock, roll every night

By John Liberty

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the legendary rock band Kiss has started celebrating its upcoming 40th anniversary in bombastic fashion.

The band turns 40 in January and announced in late August the release of a massive -- not to mention massively expensive -- book to commemorate four decades of rocking and rolling all night. The 3-foot-by-2.5-foot book priced at $4,250 features rare photographs and is signed by the band. There are only 1,000 copies of the book, which suitably will be called, "Monster," the same name as the band's forthcoming new album due out Oct. 16.

The 12-track album, the 20th of the band's career, is said to be all original material.

“We weren’t interested in making just a great KISS album, but a great rock album that lived up to the bands we loved growing up,” Paul Stanley said in a press release. "The ones who got us to play music in the first place.”

Kiss will headline the 160th Allegan County Fair when it performs with Motley Crue at 7 p.m. Sept. 11. Although they may be long in the tooth, or tongue as it were, the group still says it brings the heat.
"All I know is we're having the time of our lives getting up on stage and living up to our motto - 'You wanted the best. You got the best.' This is the hottest band in the world," founding member Gene Simmons said at the book release announcement at The Viper Room in West Hollywood.
