LATEST MAGAZINE COVER: HAWAII BUSINESS
Here's Gene Simmons on the cover of the April issue of "Hawaii Business" magazine.

Here's excerpts from the Hawaiia Business article By Lehia Apana.

Celebrities get down to business on Maui

Simmons has worn many hats in his lifetime, including rock legend, reality-TV star, author and record-label owner. Now he’s hoping to parlay his fame once again into success with his aptly named Rock & Brews restaurants, the first of which opened in 2010 in El Segundo, Calif. A location in Paia, Maui, is expected to open in late summer or early fall of this year.

“Our concept is all about making everyone feel like rock stars,” Simmons explains, adding that diners will feel like they’re backstage at a concert. The atmosphere will include big-screen TVs blasting classic music videos and concert footage from as far back as the ’60s, plus posters and photos of America’s classic rock bands.

Simmons, who is currently celebrating his 40th year with KISS, says opening a rock-inspired restaurant is only natural.

“Rock ’n’ roll is in my blood and it’s part of everything I do, so Rock & Brews as a brand is an extension of my brand.”

Like the name suggests, there will be plenty of beer – 100 craft beers to be exact, says Simmons.

“We believe in craft beers,” he says. “In our Rock & Brews restaurants, you can get exotic international breweries as well as local ones. We intend to connect with Hawaii breweries to make sure that you can get some local beer.”

Simmons hopes to attract more than the 21-and-older crowd. He says the family-friendly vibe will appeal to diners of all ages – and breeds, for that matter. All existing Rock & Brews welcome dogs, and Simmons expects the Maui restaurant to do the same.

“So far, every site has allowed it, so, barring any local differences, the Paia location will be dog friendly as well,” he says, adding jokingly, “If you allow kids, why can’t you allow their dogs? They both poop.”

MY ROCK AND ROLL OVER BIRTHDAY CAKE
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
Dear KISS,

This year for my 14th birthday I asked for a KISS "Rock And Roll Over" cake. Being that KISS has been my favorite band ever since I was around four or five, I thought it would be appropriate. So, my mom and dad printed out a picture of possibly the best album artwork in Rock and Roll history, and had it professionally made into a cake! I just thought that I would share with you my best "birthday cake" experience!

Long Live KISS!!!,
Nick DeCastro

MY MEET AND GREET - DUETTING WITH GENE!
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
Dear KISS and the KISS Army,

I thought I would share my KISS Meet and Greet experience during the recent Australian Monster Tour. I had been pondering the idea of purchasing the Meet and Greet Package for some time in the lead-up to the Australian Monster Tour. It turned out the Meet and Greet Packages sold out very quickly, so once a second show in Sydney was announce, I jumped at the chance in purchasing this package.

Having been a fan for over half my life, I had seen KISS live 9 times, met members of the band throughout the years, but never had the opportunity to meet them in their makeup. On the night of the second Kiss concert in Sydney, myself and the other Meet and Greet-ers were taken to a room where KISS would perform their acoustic set.

While the band was performing Sure Know Something, Eric Singer pointed me out, and motioned for myself to sing part of the song. Singing on Gene's microphone, it was such a surreal experience to actually be singing with KISS performing. As the song progressed through the guitar solo, I found myself sharing the microphone with Gene Simmons..singing the 'aahh' break-down from after the guitar solo back into the chorus!! I never would have imagined to be duetting with Gene Simmons - A moment in my life which I will always remember.

During the autograph session, I had each band member autograph their respective platform boot, and the KISS concert topped off an amazing night. My photo with KISS in their make-up will be proudly displayed in my lounge-room along with their autographed platform boots, and my week of KISS (seeing them twice in Melbourne and twice in Sydney) will be never forgotten.

I would highly recommend the Meet and Greet Package to any fans on the remaining Monster Tour. It was such an incredible experience Thank you KISS for the amazing memories, and we hope to see you in Australia again soon!
