SNEAK PEEK: KIDS COMICS
KISSONLINE EXCLUSIVE
KISS KIDS COMING SOON!!!

Here are a few sketches from our forthcoming KISS KISS COMICS.

The tiny terrors hit stands in an all-ages new series!

Ah, the simple pleasures of just being a kid. Lemonade stands, little league games, advanced fort building, rocking the faces off of millions of screaming fans all over the world while thwarting the plans of your evil school Principal.

If a couple of those cherished childhood memories sound unfamiliar, that's because they can only be found in KISS Kids, the new series starring the pint-sized rock gods! Join Starchild, Li'l Demon, Spacey, and Catkid as they get into trouble and kick out the jams in strips featuring familiar characters and settings from KISS lore. Helmed by KISS series writers Chris Ryall and Tom Waltz with fun, expressive art by Jose Holder (Mars Attacks The Real Ghostbusters), KISS Kids promises to be a treat for fans of all-ages!

"KISS is used to rocking and rolling all night and partying every day, but back when they were little'uns, those things only happened around nap time," said Chris Ryall, also IDW's Chief Creative Officer/Editor-in-Chief. "This series will appeal to kids and Kiss fans of all ages, as we see the school-age band engage robots, evil teachers, other students, and much more, all filtered through the KISS lens. Beth, the school's Doctor Love, the snooty Torpedo Girls, the bratty "Wicked" Lester, nefarious Principal Elder... they're all here for this accessible, funny, and appealing new series."

The new KISS Kids series, coming this fall, is being previewed in the form of a one-page strip on the back cover of all four issues of this spring's Kiss Solo series. Fans will get their first real look at the Kiss Kids on April 10, when Kiss Solo #1: The Demon by Ryall and artist Angel Medina is released.

"Rock and Roll All Nite....and Potty Every Day," added the L'il Demon himself, Kiss founding member, Gene Simmons.

This fall, there's only one place for proof positive that whether you're a Starchild or a Demon, there's nothing better than rocking and rolling all night and reading comics every day!

KISS ARMY SPAIN
Here's a recent interview that KISS Army Spain did with Eric Singer. The interview was published in the April issue of the Spanish Rock magazine Popular1.

KISS is visiting Australia at end of February, as part of the Monster Tour2013, a continent you didn’t set foot on since March 2008.

What plans do you have? Will the set-list be touched up or will it be basically the same as we heard on the tour in South America last year?

KISS has always had a “special” relationship with OZ !

We will be doing a longer set list for sure.

Once again you will be performing with Mötley Crüe like you did on the US tour. What is like the relationship between the two bands and your relationship with Tommy Lee?

Both bands get along fine. I have known those guys for over 25 years and they have always been great !! Love Tommy Lee as a drummer, he rocks the house !

Bruce Kulick talks about playing music with KISS and Grand Funk Railroad

by Adam Lawton

Bruce Kulick is probably best known for his work with the multi-platinum selling group Kiss during the bands non-makeup years. Kulick spent 12 years with the band prior to the group’s 96/97 reunion tour which featured all four original members clad in their signature makeup. Bruce went on to play in several other projects such as Audio Dog, BK3 and is currently the guitarist for Grand Funk Railroad. Media Mikes caught up with Bruce recently to discuss his career as well as his tour plans with both Grand Funk and former Motley Crue vocalist John Corabi.

Adam Lawton: You joined Kiss while they were still going through somewhat of a transitional period. What was it like for you stepping in to that situation?
Bruce Kulick: I was aware that the band sort of hit their peak in the late 70’s early 80’s. They were still doing good stuff but “Music From The Elder” was a weird time for them. I was always aware of the band as I lived in New York and my brother had done some work with them. After things didn’t work out with Vinnie Vincent I knew that they were looking for people. When I saw that they got Mark St. John it made sense as music was really changing at the time. Bands like Van Halen were very popular on the scene. I think it was important for them to find a guy who was a hot shot, gunslinger type player who could do all of the tricks as opposed to someone like Ace Frehley whose style is rooted in that of Jimmy Page and Jimi Hendrix. When it came time for the Animalize tour to start Mark was having some health issues and wasn’t going to be able to tour. My brother had recommended me to the guys as did Mitch Weissman who is a singer/songwriter. When I first started working with Paul and the rest of the band they asked me not to cut my hair and told me I would need a guitar with a Floyd Rose so I could do some of the tricks that were popular at the time. I went in and played a solo on one song and did some little fills at the end of a couple others. After that is when they asked me to fill in for Mark. I was thrilled that maybe it was just going to be for a few weeks but it turned in to 12 years. When it was all said and done that I was going to be the new guy I remember getting a pep talk from Paul where he told me that he wanted me to be very competitive with my playing and that I should be able to cover both the older material and the new stuff. I was very grateful for the opportunity.

MY PHOTO'S IN THE NEW TOURBOOK!!!
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
Greeting KISS and the KISS ARMY!

Keith Leroux recently asked me if I was happy that he was able to get my photo included in the new KISS tourbook ... the answer - It brought tears to my eyes when I saw it! When you have shot your all-time favorite band as many times as I have and a shot that I took was good enough to make a tourbook spanning KISS over the past 40 years, it makes all of the crap and tough times in life seem like they are not really not that big a deal.

When I was 9 (40 years ago) I put a KISS photo on my wall and my aunt came into my room and told me to take it down because KISS stands for “Knights In Satan's Service”. Well I did but I was not happy about it. The photo went back up after they left and I have been a proud member of the KISS Army ever since.

It may sound funny but you could have handed me a bag full of money and it wouldn't have held a candle to my photo in the new KISS FREAKIN TOURBOOK !!

Thanks for letting me “live the dream!”
Terry Wilson

DEMON CAST
KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
My guitar player was backyard wrestling and dropped a guy on his ankle. Needless to say he had some time off work. So we went toy shopping and found a place that had two original Mego KISS dolls. Being a fan since I was a kid, I asked how much they were. The lady opened the case and the Paul doll had a sticker for $100. I've been unemployed for six months so I didn't have the cash. I asked if I could just hold it. She very rudely said "only for serious buyers" and stuffed it back in the display case. Brad being the best friend he is, said "hell, I got $100", but I wouldn't let him buy it. That's too much to ask of a friend. Well a few days later he calls and says I got you something. Sure enough he got me the doll!

It inspired me to let him know how much it meant to me, so I grabbed a silver sharpie, some white nail polish and went to town on his cast. Had I known the Demon himself would be seeing it I would of spent a little more time on it. I've been drawing KISS on pretty much everything since I can remember. I'm awestruck knowing that my idol gotta kick outta something I did to mess with my buddy. It has been a rough year but this has got to be the coolest thing that's ever happened to me.

Love you guys,
Baron Fodrie

ROCK STARS RAISE $1.3 MILLION FOR YOUTH GROUPS

SIOUX FALLS, SD -

Motley Crue is in the middle of a month long Australian tour, but front man Vince Neil took time out to come to Sioux Falls to raise money for the rock and roll academy and to encourage kids to get involved in music.

"The cool thing is the accomplishment of it. It could be 'Mary had a little lamb,' right? But if you play it on guitar or whatever, you go 'oh, my God, I did it," Neil said.

Kiss bassist Gene Simmons agrees. He says music is a constructive activity that empowers kids to be better people.

"Empty hearts and empty minds, that's the devil's work. You've got to grab those minds and hearts and get them busy and preoccupied. From school, come here. Be home or come here to the Boys and Girls Club and it's fun. Pick up a guitar, get up on stage, be a rock star," Simmons said.

Simmons says he hopes the idea of the Rock and Roll Academy catches on and that it spreads to other cities.

"Rock and roll and being in a band is self-empowering. You don't have to be in the audience, you can get up on stage. It's a pathway to climb Mt. Olympus and become one of the gods of Rock and Roll, if only for a while, if only in your mind," Simmons said.

But Neil says teaching kids to play music isn't necessarily about creating the next great rock band.

"Even if they don't stick to it, say music's not for them, I think you can use that in your life and say don't be afraid to try something that's out of your comfort zone. So, I think it's more like life lessons rather than building musicians," Neil said.

"Pick up that microphone, dream big, live big and imagine, inspire, self empower. Boys and Girls clubs, Rock and Roll and Chuck Brennan, it makes all the sense in the world. I wish I was a kid so I could come here," Simmons said.

The rock stars that came to Sioux Falls helped raise $1.3 million for the Boys and Girls Club with a weeklong series of concerts.

Coming this Fall, KISS Kids will focus on the KISS Characters as children as they take on nemeses such as Principal Elder, and Wicked Lester.
