PAUL AND GENE ON INDUCTION TO R&R HALL OF FAME
KISSONLINE.com
The spirit of rock and roll for me has always meant following the paths I choose regardless of what my critics or my peers think. For 40 years KISS has built an army that apologizes to no one and I'm honored to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame knowing we have remained true to ourselves and our fans. ~~ Paul Stanley

To the KISS Army, Ace, Peter, Eric Carr, Vinnie, Mark, Bruce, Tommy and Eric Singer, Bill Aucoin, Doc McGhee and to my partner of 40 years, the ever youthful Paul Stanley...and all the members of the KISS Family. This honor is for you. 40 years of Rockin' and still going strong. ~~ Gene Simmons

Calling Dr. Love! KISS is set to join the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, alongside other new inductees Nirvana, Hall & Oates, Peter Gabriel, Linda Ronstadt and Cat Stevens.

The 29th annual induction ceremony will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on April 10, and will be open to the public (as it has for recent ceremonies in Los Angeles and Cleveland). The event will air as an HBO special in May.

"We know that engaging the fans is a huge opportunity," says Joel Peresman, president/CEO of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. "It gives them a chance to be a part of the ceremony, but it also adds a palpable energy to the event. Once we decided to open the ceremony to the public in New York, that had a huge impact on the decision to have it at Barclays Center."

Chosen by more than 700 voters (artists, historians and music industry professionals) of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, the 2014 honorees will also receive an exhibit at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland in conjunction with the ceremony. Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first recording.

KISS, Alice Cooper and dozens of rock & roll legends team up for epic charity concert.

Photo of Chuck Brennan and Paul Stanley by Soni Giles for KISSONLINE.

Rock & roll fans were treated with a once-in-a-lifetime experience at a charity concert to raise money for music education. Alice Cooper, all of the members of KISS, Rob Zombie, Europe and dozens of other rock legends came together at THE Fundraiser in Las Vegas and performed for thousands of fans at the Orleans Arena.

Organized by Chuck Brennan, founder of the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy, THE Fundraiser included live performances of some of the greatest rock & roll hits of all time by the artists themselves. Backed by tribute band HAIRBALL as the house band, THE Fundraiser included more songs by more headliners than any other rock concert in history. Performers included Alice Cooper, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Eric Singer and Tommy Thayer of KISS, Vince Neil, Rob Zombie, Dee Snider of Twisted Sister, Stephen Pearcy of RATT, Tom Keifer of Cinderella, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, Joey Tempest & John Norum of Europe and Kip Winger of Winger.

Alice Cooper has been a long-time supporter of the academy. He was on-hand in Sioux Falls for its groundbreaking last year and grand opening concert series this Spring. The academy’s “Welcome To My Nightmare” recording studio was dedicated in his honor. Cooper operates his own performing arts charity, Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock, in Phoenix. “You should see these kids when you go out and play in front of them,” he said. “They are in these rooms trying to learn guitar and then they see the real guys right in front of them. You can see the inspiration in their faces.”

Another academy supporter performing at THE Fundraiser was Jack Blades of Night Ranger. Night Ranger wrote a song on the stage of the Brennan Rock & Roll Academy this year that will be included on their upcoming new album. “All those times when we were young and didn’t have a place to go to get our creativity going,” he said. “Chuck (Brennan)-and Alice with Solid Rock -have made places for kids to go to let their creativity just run wild.”

PHOTO: PAUL & TOMMY WITH LOTS OF FRIENDS!
Here's Paul Stanley and Tommy Thayer with Slash, Steve Stevens, Donavan Leitch, David Arquette, Chris Chaney, Fred Durst, Billy Idol, Billy Gibbons, Alice Cooper, Billy Morrison, Wayne Newton, and Matt Sorum at last night's Camp Freddy performance at the Guggenheim Partner’s holiday party in Santa Monica at Barker Hangar!

Paul Stanley and Tommy Thayer from KISS were on hand for a killer version of Free’s “All Right Now” with Chris Chaney nailing the classic bass line. Stanley and Thayer stayed on for Kiss classics “Strutter” and “Lick It Up”, always crowd favorites. The band sounded great on these songs and both Paul and Tommy were in top form. You almost half expected the stage to burst into flames in classic KISS style!
