This Saturday, Dodger Stadium is being transformed into an full-fledged hockey stadium for the first ever NHL outdoor game in Los Angeles at the Stadium Series game featuring the LA Kings taking on the Anaheim Ducks.

Taking part in the festivities of this anticipated outdoor game is recent Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees KISS, who will give a mini-concert during the first intermission of the game. This morning the one and only Gene Simmons joined us live on air to talk about performing at LA’s first outdoor hockey game, plus share his abundance of music knowledge, sentiments about being inducted to the Rock Hall and much more.

KISS is just one of the big-name talents performing at the Stadium Series game this weekend along with Jordin Sparks and Five For Fighting. The band will rock the stadium after the first period of the game, and Gene assures it will be a show to remember.

“How exciting is that going to be?” said Gene. “Dodger Stadium. Outdoors. Southern California right here in Los Angeles, you’re going to see great champions going at each other on blades on ice, but…we’ll be able to shake the heavens. KISS in full bombast, we’ll have more firepower than most third world countries.”

Not only does KISS have the honor of being the first band to play at LA’s outdoor hockey game, but the band also holds another title at Dodger Stadium of being the first band to put on a 3D concert on the field in 2000.

Gene Simmons and his rock band KISS are set to perform at Dodger Stadium as part of the NHL 2014 Coors Light Stadium Series.

The first-ever outdoor hockey game in Los Angeles puts the Los Angeles Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Jan. 25.

The veteran rock act will perform before the game and during the first intermission. It will air on NBC Sports Network in the U.S. and on CBC and RDS2 in Canada.

KISS will be part of an entertainment lineup that aims to blend Hollywood and NHL stars as part of the warm-weather outdoor game in Dodger Stadium.

"Los Angeles is the premier hub for sports and entertainment in this country, and we are honored to be part of an event that fuses both by rocking the first-ever outdoor NHL game in LA," Simmons said in a statement Thursday.

Simmons and fellow KISS member Paul Stanley are also behind a new arena football team, LA KISS, to debut at the Honda Center in Anaheim.

Legendary Rockers Looks to Pack Honda Center With Arena Football

By Chris Casacchia | Orange County Business Journal

Kiss front man Gene Simmons promises to recreate the same raucous experience that's defined his rock band's concerts for more than four decades in his latest business venture: arena football.

The entertainment tycoon who's licensed everything from Hello Kitty dolls to comic books will test his marketing chops in an industry plagued with challenges and in a market that's hummed along just fine without professional football for the last 20 years.

Simmons is quick to downplay those concerns.

"There's only one business on Earth, and that's show business," he said. "Unless you make something fun and interesting to people, they don't care. We're going to have a lot of fun."

Fans who attend L.A. Kiss' April home opener at the Honda Center in Anaheim can expect to see a show before, during and after the game. And that doesn't even account for the fast-paced action on the turf, where players frequently get knocked into the stands and missed field goals are rebounded off netting behind the skinny goal posts and played live.

GENE HELPS RAISE $450K FOR CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
Rock star Gene Simmons raises $450,000 for Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital

The Canadian Press

Kiss rock star Gene Simmons has raised $450,000 for the new Saskatchewan Children’s Hospital by auctioning off a custom 1956 Ford F-100 truck.

The silver truck, named Snakebit, went up for sale Friday at auctioneers Barrett-Jackson in Arizona.

The hospital is in Saskatoon, where Simmons’ wife, Shannon Tweed, grew up.

Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall had said the highest a ’56 Ford has sold for at Barrett-Jackson was $180,000, though he hoped the auction would raise even more money for hospital equipment.

Wall was at Friday’s auction, which was broadcast on Fox Sports, and tweeted pictures of the celebrity couple standing in front of the vehicle.

Snakebit was built in Saskatoon and the front end of the revamped truck is a Shelby Mustang.

Wall — a self-confessed car nerd who owns a 1967 Dodge Coronet — said even though he’s not a Ford guy, the truck is beautiful.

Before the auction, Tweed addressed the crowd and explained her passion for helping the children of Saskatchewan.

“I was born in the province called Newfoundland,” she said. “My mom had to move with her seven children back to a province called Saskatchewan. She started working at a hospital; she became head of the hospital. So I was keenly aware there was no children’s hospital in our town and it’s a shame. We’re one of two provinces in Canada that doesn’t have one, and we’re going to try and make it happen tonight, with your help.”

Bidding quickly rose to more than $350,000, then went even higher when Simmons promised to throw in a signed guitar “and a lap dance” as part of the deal.
