, DEF LEPPARD PRESENT VET WITH HOME

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- KISS, Def Leppard and the Military Warriors Support Foundation presented a Columbia, Tenn. veteran with a mortgage-free home during the bands' concert Wednesday night.

When an IED explided under Army Sgt. Kevin Givens, he wasn't sure he'd even survive, let a lone go to another rock concert.

But on Wednesday, he did and it was legendary rockers Def Leppard and KISS that made him feel like the star.

Between sets, Givens walked onstage to a roaring crowd, where Military Warriors Support Foundation announced Givens and his family would be moving into a home in Columbia mortgage-free.

"This is great for Andrew," said David Lieske, national director of business development. "We are so blessed to be able to take part in this."

The announcement came after an unforgettable day where Givens got a VIP tour of the arena and got to meet Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen who still drums despite losing his arms in the 80s.

"It doesn't matter how big of a struggle that anyone goes through, that people can succeed," Givens said.

The organization says they've awarded more than 500 homes to veterans across the country.

If you go see a major music artist in concert at an arena these days, there's a good chance you'll also see some fireworks. Plenty of acts have at least a few of them shoot off at the end of their show, to give their fans one last spectacle before they head home.

And then there's KISS.

KISS opens their show with fireworks. Tons of them. Flames and fog, too – they spew out from all sides of the stage as the band descends from the ceiling, riding a massive, spider-shaped lighting rig.

The antics only got more over-the-top from there during KISS' concert at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday, and that's exactly what their longtime fans in Music City expected.

"We've been coming to Nashville longer than some of you have been alive," guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley told them, after recalling past gigs at Municipal Auditorium and the long-gone Muther's Music Emporium.

It's a momentous year in the costumed rock band's history. Their current co-headlining tour with Def Leppard is marking their 40th anniversary, and in April, they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame — after fans spent more than a decade campaigning on their behalf.
