KISS AXS TV ZURICH, SWITZERLAND CONCERT REVIEW

By Terri Bey

As most of my readers know, I am a huge fan of the rock band, KISS, and have been for 36 years. I have written a couple of blogs about the band, one being about the celebration of their 40th Anniversary, another reviewing their most recent album, Monster, and a few others. I will be reviewing a KISS concert I just watched on AXS TV from Switzerland today, June 20, 2013.

KISS is currently on a European tour that started on June 1st in Stockholm, Sweden, and ends on June 22nd in Clisson, France. KISS continues its North American leg (in limited dates) on July 5th in Victoria, B.C., Canada, and finishes in Hollywood, FL on August 18th, as of this writing. The band then goes to Japan in mid-October for a couple of dates, and then participates to their KISS KRUISE III in the last weekend of October.

Thursday June 21st, AXS TV aired a live KISS concert from the bands current European tour. The show emanated from the Hallen Stadion in Zurich, Switzerland, and AXS TV aired it at 3pm ET (12pm PT). I advise you check your local listings for replays.

Now, I will proceed to review the concert itself. I hope you will enjoy it.By Terri Bey

I thought it was a very good, solid set list. I think the band did a very good job of mixing some of the 70s classics with the 80s songs, along with the recent material from Sonic Boom (Say Yeah), and Monster (Hallelujah, World). My only wish would be that the band remove that one lyric of Shock Me and put in maybe Lightning Strikes from Sonic Boom. Overall, very good setlist.

The band overall was awesome. Everyone sounded great. The guys look like they really enjoy playing together, and enjoy each other. I think they have developed their own unique chemistry.

Bassist and Demon Gene Simmons was just awesome. I became that 9-10 year old all over again. It was fun seeing him spit blood, and breathe fire.

Drummer and Catman Eric Singer proved why he is one of the best drummers playing today. He was just so precise. He also was pretty entertaining during the jam session with Tommy Thayer. It looks like the two get along well. I love how Eric rocks back and forth along with the Deuce choreography.

Paul Stanley, well what else can be said? He showed why he is one of the best front men in rock. He sang pretty well, and his voice held up well. For someone who has been in the music business for 40 plus years, he still kicks ass. There are not too many people that can still be as talented and still be a top rated superstar like Paul Stanley after 40 years in music.

Tommy Thayer was magnificent. He did a great job performing at the show. I loved hearing him sing that one line of Shock Me, and then going into Out of this World, which is my favorite song on Monster. I thought he was amazing tonight. When the band played the 70s classics, Tommy played the licks and stuff that was done by Ace Frehley faithfully, and I think Aces fans should be proud of Tommy. I know this Ace fan is.

Overall, the entire show was really awesome. I absolutely loved the stage show. The spider stage was so awesome. During certain songs, the lights would change colors. I loved how band members would go up in the air with those levitating risers during certain songs (Tommy during his jam with Eric Singer). I totally enjoyed the show.

Even at 40, KISS, along with their pyro, makeup, and most importantly, their music, is still very much alive and kicking.

You wanted the best! You got the best! The Hottest Band in the World! KISS!

Thanks for reading.
