KISSONLINE FAN LETTER
My son's first KISS concert, Sydney Australia
Finally, after listening to his mum brag about this band called KISS for years, my 11 year old son witnessed what all the fuss was about at the Sydney concert on 20 March.
'Mum, that was the best two hours of my life!' he chanted repeatedly as he walked away in awe by what he had just witnessed. He had stood there, dressed as his favourite feline, completely mesmerised by the visual feast before him. The pyrotechnics, the fire-breathing, blood spitting, platform levitating spectacle, that us fans know and love as KISS, brought about a realisation and an understanding as to why his mum thinks this band is so unique. 'When can we go again?' he asked as KISS were leaving the stage.
Having recently started playing drums & receiving Eric Singer's DVD on how to put his Pearl kit together, the experience was made all the more special knowing Eric was actually there on that stage, LIVE!! 'That's so cool'! I smiled as he beat the air in time to Eric's drum playing.
When the drum platform started to rise, with smoke billowing from beneath, I stood there proudly watching his transfixed expression. I was so pleased to be able to share this experience with my child and thought to myself how fortunate we fans have been to have had KISS in our lives for 35 years. To be able to share a big part of my life with him is something I'll remember forever.
Not many bands have been around long enough to have their fans bringing their kids to the shows and I fear not many will do so in the future. Who will my son be going to see with his kids?
Thank you to KISS for being true to their supporters and for always delivering breathtaking, knockout performances. 'You wanted the best, you got the best' rings true every time. The greatest show on Earth? Without a doubt!
