KISS IN MINNESOTA: SAY YEAH!

Was there ever any doubt that all the face-paint, fireworks, flashing lights and songs about licking it up and shouting out loud would be perfect for the State Fair?

Making its first appearance at the Great Minnesota Get-Together -- and actually its first outdoor show ever in the state -- Kiss delivered its usual carnivalistic, freak-showy, over-feeding concert Saturday in front of a sold-out crowd at the grandstand.

Wait a second... I thought Kiss was supposed to be all about forgetting everything else going on in the world and just dedicating yourself to good, clean, fun rock 'n' roll. So what was the deal with the check for $340,233 - including $1/ticket raised off Saturday's fair grandstand concert - to the Wounded Warriors Care Project, which the band delivered to some Marines at the start of the encore? Paul Stanley even gave a speech about how "the government doesn't treat these soldiers with proper respect." This was easily one of the coolest things I've ever seen at a Kiss concert, and definitely the most out-of-the-ordinary part in this particular concert. Say yeah!

Everything else about the show (production, sound, energy, etc.) was grade-A Kiss, and I hope they make it back to the fair again.
