LICKETY SPLIT: Gene Simmons, the tongue-flicking member of rock band Kiss, has no problem that pop star Miley Cyrus has been copping his act. Anybody has the right to stick out any appendage they like, he said backstage after the John Varvatos show in Milan on Saturday night.

Simmons and his band mates certainly lapped up the attention after they came out for a bow, surprising the usually staid fashion crowd, who rose to their feet and sang along to the 1975 anthem Rock and Roll All Nite.

Simmons related how hes been applying his own oil-based makeup for 40 years, noting that the demonic design naturally divides the face into two. His next application will be Jan. 25, when the band celebrates their 40th anniversary with a gig at Dodger Stadium in New York City.

John Varvatos is a good friend who does rock n roll clothes. His new campaign is based around Kiss, lead singer Paul Stanley said. Beautiful style does not depend on fashion fashion is temporary and is about creating a market to sell clothes. Style is timeless.

If you look at the rock stars of the Sixties and Seventies, they werent dressed by designers. They went to thrift shops, they went to the Salvation Army.

Stanley added that in his private life, he dresses in Varvatos, Kiton and Brioni. But I dont wear Brioni on the weekends when Im cooking and making pizza. Im a damn good chef. Then, its time for T-shirts and jeans.

On April 8, Stanley will release his autobiography Face the Music (Harper Collins) and is planning a tour to promote it. The band will also tour this summer.

Asked about how it feels to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It took a while, but Im happy to be there," Stanley said.
